Dishwasher Not Cleaning Dishes Properly
The most common complaint we receive. Usually caused by clogged or cracked spray arms, a failing wash pump that can't generate adequate water pressure, or a water inlet valve that isn't opening fully and restricting water flow.
Dishwasher Not Draining
Standing water at the bottom of the tub after a cycle points to a blocked drain filter, a failed drain pump, or a kinked drain hose. The drain filter is worth cleaning first — if the problem persists after that, the drain pump has likely failed.
Dishwasher Leaking Water
Leaks at the door almost always come from a worn door gasket or a misaligned door latch. Leaks at the base of the unit typically point to a loose hose connection, a cracked pump housing, or a faulty water inlet valve.
Dishwasher Not Starting
When the dishwasher doesn't respond to any input, the usual causes are a failed door latch assembly, a tripped thermal fuse, a control board issue, or a child lock that has been activated accidentally.
Dishwasher Not Heating Water or Not Drying Dishes
Both of these functions rely on the heating element. A failed heating element means the machine won't reach the temperature needed to clean properly and won't activate the drying cycle. This is a straightforward replacement completed on the first visit.
Dishwasher Making Unusual Noises
Grinding or humming sounds during the wash cycle are usually caused by debris caught in the chopper blade beneath the pump, a worn wash pump bearing, or a broken spray arm that is hitting the upper rack during rotation.
Dishwasher Leaving White Residue on Dishes
White deposits on glassware and dishes after a cycle are typically caused by hard water mineral buildup on the spray arms or inside the wash pump — both common in Somerset County where water hardness is moderate to high. A malfunctioning water softener dispenser can also be responsible.
Dishwasher Door Not Latching or Closing Properly
A door that won't close or latch prevents the cycle from starting. The door latch and strike plate wear over time and are one of the more common dishwasher repairs we handle. This is a quick fix that typically takes under an hour.
