What Kenmore Problems Do We See Most Often?
Kenmore Washer Not Spinning or Draining
In Raritan and Somerville, most Kenmore washers we service are top-loaders built by Whirlpool. When the machine fills and agitates normally but won’t spin, the lid switch is almost always the cause — a simple, inexpensive fix we’ve done dozens of times on these models.
On Kenmore front-loaders built by LG, a clogged pump filter is the first thing we check. It sits behind a small access panel at the lower front and is responsible for the majority of drainage complaints we get on these machines.
Kenmore Refrigerator Ice Maker Not Working
Ice maker failure is the most common Kenmore refrigerator call we get. The fix depends on who built the fridge — each manufacturer has a different ice maker design and different failure points.
One thing we always tell Kenmore refrigerator owners: the water filter. Kenmore-branded filters are priced at a significant premium. If your fridge is a model 106 — built by Whirlpool — the identical filter is available under the Whirlpool brand for half the price. We’ll always point you in the right direction.
Kenmore Elite Appliance Failing Sooner Than Expected
This is a conversation we have regularly with homeowners across Bridgewater and Branchburg. The Kenmore Elite line was marketed as premium, and many customers expected the same longevity as the simpler Kenmore machines their parents owned for 20+ years.
The Elite line is a higher-spec version of whatever brand actually built it — more features, more electronics, more that can fail. An Elite washer is typically a premium Whirlpool or LG configuration. More capable, but also more sensitive to wear and power issues than the basic mechanical models from the same era.
Kenmore Dryer Not Heating
The fix depends on the manufacturer. On Whirlpool-built Kenmore dryers — the most common in Somerset County — a blown thermal fuse is the first component we test. On LG-built models, we check the thermistor and the full vent line.
Regardless of which Kenmore dryer you have, we clean the full vent run on every visit. A clogged vent is the root cause of thermal fuse failures on all platforms, and skipping that step means the same part fails again within months.
Kenmore Dishwasher Not Draining or Cleaning Properly
Most Kenmore dishwashers we service in Bridgewater and Somerville are built by Whirlpool — model numbers starting with 665. Not draining usually points to a clogged filter or a failed drain pump. Poor cleaning is almost always clogged spray arms or a weak wash pump.
The filter is worth checking yourself first — it’s at the bottom of the tub and should be cleaned monthly. If the problem continues after a thorough cleaning, call us.
