Grinding, Clicking, or Squeaking During Use
The most common elliptical complaint. Almost always caused by worn pedal arm bearings, a dry or cracking drive belt, worn flywheel axle bearings, or a loose crank arm bolt. We run the machine under load during the diagnostic to isolate the source accurately before replacing any parts.
Ramp or Incline Not Moving
When the ramp doesn't respond or gets stuck at one elevation, the ramp motor, ramp motor capacitor, or ramp position sensor has failed. We carry ramp motors and capacitors for all major elliptical brands and replace them on the first visit in most cases.
Resistance Not Changing
An elliptical that won't change resistance levels has a failed magnetic resistance module, a broken resistance cable, or a main control board issue. We test the full resistance circuit and replace only the failed component.
Console or Display Not Working
A blank console, missing metrics, or buttons that don't respond indicate a failed display board, a loose internal connection, or a main board failure. We carry console components for all major brands.
Elliptical Not Powering On
When the elliptical produces no response at all, the cause is usually a failed power adapter, a blown internal fuse, or a main control board failure. Self-powered ellipticals that generate electricity from pedaling but won't power the console have a failed generator or rectifier.
Stride Length Inconsistent or Locked
On variable-stride ellipticals, a stride length that won't adjust or changes erratically has a failed stride adjustment motor, a worn stride mechanism, or a sensor that isn't reading the stride position correctly. We service variable-stride ellipticals from NordicTrack, Life Fitness, and other major brands.
Pedal Arm Wobbling or Loose
A pedal arm that wobbles or feels loose during use has either a worn pedal arm bearing or a loose axle bolt at the connection point. Address this promptly — a loose pedal arm accelerates bearing wear and can cause the arm to detach entirely under load.
Drive Belt Worn or Broken
A slipping, squealing, or broken drive belt disconnects the flywheel from the pedal mechanism. Drive belt replacement is one of the most common elliptical repairs we handle and is completed on the first visit in every case.
