Treadmill Belt Slipping or Hesitating
The most common treadmill complaint. Usually caused by a loose belt that needs re-tensioning, a deck surface that has worn through its lubrication layer, or a failing drive motor that can't deliver consistent power under load. We assess all three on the first visit.
Treadmill Not Turning On
When a treadmill produces no response, check the safety key first. If the key is correctly attached and the machine still won't start, the problem is usually a blown fuse on the motor control board, a failed on/off switch, or a surge protector issue. If none of those apply, the motor control board has failed.
Treadmill Making Loud Noises
Squealing, grinding, or thumping sounds during use are caused by a worn drive belt, a failing motor bearing, a dry deck surface, or worn roller bearings. Identifying which component is responsible requires a technician to run the machine through its diagnostic modes.
Treadmill Stopping Mid-Workout
A treadmill that shuts off unexpectedly is almost always overheating. The most common causes are a worn belt and dry deck creating excessive motor load, a motor that is failing and drawing too much current, or a blocked motor compartment vent restricting airflow. Allowing the machine to cool and addressing the underlying cause prevents further damage.
Incline Motor Not Working
When the incline function doesn't respond or gets stuck at one position, the incline motor, the incline motor capacitor, or the control board's incline circuit has failed. We carry incline motors and capacitors for all major treadmill brands.
Console Display Not Working
A blank console, missing segments on the display, or buttons that don't respond indicate a failed display board, a loose ribbon cable connection, or a main control board failure. We diagnose and replace console components across all major brands.
Treadmill Speed Inconsistent or Surging
A treadmill that doesn't hold a consistent speed or surges unexpectedly has either a worn drive belt that is slipping on the drive roller, a motor control board that is losing regulation, or a speed sensor that is providing inaccurate readings.
Burning Smell During Use
A burning smell from a treadmill means excessive heat is being generated somewhere in the drive system. Stop using the machine immediately. The cause is almost always a dry belt and deck generating excessive friction, a motor with failing bearings, or a motor control board component that is beginning to fail.
