No Resistance or Resistance Won't Change
The most common exercise bike issue. On modern magnetic resistance bikes, the magnetic resistance module or the resistance motor has failed. On older bikes with friction resistance, the brake pad or tension mechanism has worn out. On connected bikes like Peloton, the resistance motor is almost always responsible.
Squeaking or Grinding During Pedaling
Noise during use points to worn pedal bearings, a dry drive chain or belt, a loose crank arm, or worn flywheel bearings. We identify the source by testing each mechanical component during a diagnostic inspection and replace only what has failed.
Console or Display Not Working
A blank console, missing metrics, or buttons that don't respond indicate a failed display board, a loose internal connection, or a main board failure. We carry console components for all major brands and replace them on the first visit in most cases.
Bike Not Powering On
When the bike produces no response, the cause is usually a failed power adapter, a blown fuse inside the console, or a main board failure. Self-powered bikes that don't generate power typically have a failed generator or a faulty rectifier circuit.
Pedals Loose, Clicking, or Wobbling
Pedals that click or rock under load are either loose at the crank arm threads or have failed pedal bearings. Address this promptly — the rocking motion strips crank arm threads quickly, turning a simple bearing replacement into a more involved repair.
Drive Belt or Chain Issues
A slipping, squealing, or broken drive belt or chain causes the flywheel to decouple from the pedal mechanism. Drive belt replacement is one of the most common exercise bike repairs we handle and is completed on the first visit in most cases.
Seat or Handlebar Adjustment Mechanism Failure
Seat posts and handlebar adjustment pins that won't lock in position or that slip during use have worn locking pins or stripped adjustment tracks. We replace seat post assemblies and adjustment hardware across all major brands.
Flywheel or Brake Pad Issues
On friction-resistance spin bikes, brake pads that wear down cause the resistance to feel inconsistent or to bottom out before the recommended setting. We replace brake pads for all major spin bike brands and adjust the brake caliper alignment after replacement.
